“What Are You Waiting For?”

It’s the middle of October, and the weather is disgusting. It’s cold, windy, and raining. I come on to the street holding an umbrella, and a purse. I have decided to have lunch with my friend. I look around for my friend. I look at my watch. She is late. I roll my eyes and wait, tapping my foot impatiently. As I wait, it stops raining so I fold up my umbrella and place it against the bench. I ruffle my clothes straightening them out, and look for my friend again. She’s not here yet. I sigh, and go to a bench beside me to sit down. I decide to fix my hair and make-up. I take out all sorts of things such as a hand mirror, eyeshadow and fix myself. I put my make-up away and as I comb my hair with a brush, a speeding car goes by and splashes a puddle of water on me. Shocked, I look out and shout after the car, but it’s long gone. I’m furious and I try to shake the water off several times, but clearly it doesn’t work, leaving me soaked. I become upset with what had happened to me, and plop down back on the bench. I put my brush away. Then from a distant I smell something. It’s a scent that makes me happy, and from the side I can see a man with a portable coffee stand go by. I look around for my friend. She’s still not here. I hurry to the man and buy a cup of coffee. I sit back down, smell the coffee, drink some, and hold it warmly on my hands. Suddenly my phone goes off. I look for it in my purse, and accidentally I drop my cup of coffee. I become ashamed with myself, and quickly answer the phone. It’s my friend calling to say sorry. I am mad and shouts at her to hurry up. I pick up the empty cup on the ground, expressing that it’s empty. Spotting a trash can at a corner, I throw the cup to see if I can get it in. I miss, pick it up again, and place it into the garbage can. I check the time again. I look around. I’m hungry, so I rub my tummy. From far, I see my friend running up to me. I motion toward her to hurry. When she comes, I question why she’s late. I rub my tummy and show her that I’m hungry. We walk off together.
